After a scary encounter with a Cylon (See Photo 1, below) it was time to begin Galacticon!!! Ron Moore was the first one up! OK, since I pay for this domain, I can say what I want. Ron Moore (herein referred to as the MooreRon) is an arrogant asshole! Richard Hatch tried to keep things calm by praising the MooreRon for having the guts to come to Galacticon. Ron Moore began by smugly saying "I'm the guy who killed Kirk"
It was obvious from this beginning that he is a smug, arrogant son of a bitch who gets off on pissing off people. When asked what he was thinking of when he came up with the new version of Galactica, all he would say is "Hey, Sci Fi Channel came to me" Also, he said that the first thing he thought of was changing Starbuck's character into a female. Makes me really wonder what kind of person he really is, if the first thing he thinks of if changing men into woman!!! The really amazing part of the panel, was after showing the trailer (I think the new female Starbuck Character is more annoying than Jar Jar Binks...no easy task!!!), there was a guy on stage who was REALLY sucking up to the MooreRon. With quotes like "WOW, that was amazing" and "WOW, where did you come up with that" I was ready to BARF. Once we started asking if the MooreRon would change the mini series to reflect the original series he said "No" Thank the Lords of Kobal we ran of time so that he could get off stage.
Glen Larson came up next and announced that he has the movie rights to Battlestar Galactica, and that he and Tom DeSantos were talking about a new movie. I really hope we get a movie (and that the Mini Series tanks in the ratings!!!). After looking at the photos, I realized that the lighting for the panels was not going to make for very good photos, so there are not many more photos from any panels. I'm showing them here just in case you have a good monitor. See if you can spot Terry Carter, Richard Hatch, Laurette Spang, Dirk Benedict, and Tom DeSantos in the audience!
